Undone Stonewashed Color

Indulge Salon GraphicIndulge Salon ImageThink about your favorite pair of jeans that you can’t live without.  You slide them on, feeling confident even though they’re faded. You feel comfortable in them because they feel “just right”. That’s the concept of this season’s hot hair trend called UNDONE STONEWASHED COLOR.

STONEWASHED STYLE is about the casualness of color. It’s a grown out, just got out of bed, textured look that is not finished and polished. TEXTURED CUTTING, with non-blunt ends that provide an ebb and flow MOVEMENT in your hair – like ocean water that moves in and out with the waves. The visual is CAPTIVATING because the hair has a natural feel that’s beautifully UNDONE – like the wind at the beach kicking up the hair.

Tousled. Easy going. Not contrived or forced. The hair never looks as if you are trying too hard to make it go the way you want it to go.

STONEWASHED COLOR begins with a palette of creamy nude tones to faded pale violet sweet ash blondes, and broadens into stonewashed corals and brunettes alive with hidden triangles of depth that only a swish of the hair reveals.

This season we are inspired by shapes for color placement, that are discreetly placed to give dramatic or subtle effects that create shine as well as dimensional color that shimmers throughout the hair. Some of the shapes that help give the ILLUSION OF CONTOURS are triangles, circles and crescents that are used as focal points. As UNDONE as it looks, the end results require strategy and the skill of a trained color technician. This is not something created out of a box.

Stonewashed Strawberry Blonde starts out with a golden blonde with slight hints of peach or light coppery shades that are meshed through so the look is natural.

Stonewashed Pale Violet Blondes feature a hint of cool copper.

We have been inspired by Wella’s ILLUMINA hair color that is more translucent and airy looking – without the weight of the color. The unexpected but strategic placement of freehand painted color can create more interest, especially for the client who is tired of the humdrum. The goal is finding a happy medium between the fast paced lifestyle and the beauty of nature. That you can look professional and UNDONE at the same time.

Have you ever sat on a beach watching the sun go down? One of my favorite memories is a romantic dinner in Hawaii, watching the sun touch down to kiss the water. The glittering gold that sweeps across the water at that moment is what has inspired me to infuse blonde hair with glittering gold highlights within a blonde-on-blonde tone.

It seems that gold tones are everywhere! Like the satin finished nail lacquer called “love” that was created by Gwen Stefani and OPI. I love OPI colors because they are always on trend with fun names. Gold accessories are more about 24-karat neutrals in sneakers, ear phones, watches and the mythical powers of gold turns cool metal hot!

We are seeing the makeup trends with gold dusted onto makeover finishes on the runway. Keep in mind less is more with the gold. I personally feel your hair is your best accessory, that truly reveals your inner aura.
