We started at Indulge Salon York Pa carrying natural body care products out of necessity because my skin was so dry that I scratched till the skin bled. That became problematic for me since I tried other lotions and creams but they burned my skin when I applied them.

We recommend starting with our Indulge Pure Originals soap to cleanse the skin without SLS (ingredient that is horrible for the skin found in most soaps) We believe in the purest ingredients that cleanse with minimal lather for cleansing yet the aromatic approach gives us good feelings for the day. Then after rinsing the skin without the film on your body, we recommend trying one of our four lotion bars to use in the shower to moisturize while wet, then pat dry. Once you pat your body dry then use our Indulge Pure Originals Ultimate Moisturizer that goes on smoothly while the skin is warm. Our creams and lotions are meant to be used with warm skin so the product melts into your skin then when the skin cools off it will work more effectively for you to prevent dry skin. Are you as productive as you thought you were? Feel like you aren’t getting ahead in the day? Loads of emails to filter through or find that your facebook page is more interesting? So many of our days are filled with filtering through our emails from people we aren’t really interested in however; it takes time to delete to remove them.

Recently I had attended an Irrational Summit with a bunch of really smart economists that shed a light on the economy and the what if’s when or if Trump would become President of the United States. The group also had created some potential outcomes if Hillary would be elected. Well, this was an eye opener because:

• if Trump were elected productivity would jump because he would cause a stir amongst public investments
• the Fed would initiate changes based on his decisions and the goal to increase revenue for the country would be to get people more productive then the general population currently works about 34 hours. We are losing millions of dollars by workers not working as many hours that were available in our country. (this was interesting)
• the amount of money that is committed by country monthly would have an affect on our citizens because of medicaid, medicare and the amount of people that are dependent on “the system”.
• the conversation went on and on with everyone’s opinions on investing.

My personal thoughts to this conversation were what are doing as an action step to be more productive with your time. Is it checking all of your social media accounts for hours on end? Is it talking on the phone more or emails that really just fill up your day with non producing money making activities? Are you taking care of the co-workers, customers, clients associated with you?

Every time you check and email that goes nowhere eats up your time. Time you don’t get back. Think about the time dragons that eat up your valuable time that could be taken to meet with a potential client, close down your computer that isn’t offering you what you need. How about advanced education? Does it really have to be somebody’s else’s responsibility or could you schedule a training for yourself to further your career?

I find that when I spend a some time preparing myself in the morning with goals, appropriate makeup for the day, style my hair for interactions with people that my day has a more productive feel to it. Planning, preparing to execute a day is important to achieve goals in life. The question remains, what are you doing with your time during your 24 hours a day to be more productive? Are you spending time with people that drag you down emotionally or do you spend time with people that lift you up or contribute to your life. I find that I’ve run into both types during the years. I learned this tip from Brian Tracy, Author and speaker. He said you can’t eat a frog in one day. You’ve got to break down your goals in to bite size nimblers to achieve the big goal over time.

For example, getting ready in the morning could take 30 minutes to 45 minutes depending on how my makeup counter is set up. If its all jumbled then my makeup application would take longer because I have to hunt for things. I do have all of my makeup organized into sections such as moisturizer because that goes on first, foundation colors goes on second so I have it positioned them to the right of my counter so that I don’t have to think about where to reach for them. The other makeup items such as eye shadow, liners (can’t give away all my secrets) are lined up in order of makeup application. This has proven very efficient, time saving so much that it dropped my get ready time down to 15 minutes from shower to out the door. It pays to be productive with time management. This is situational time management.

Appreciate your professional administrative secretary that has helped you get the job done in your business.  They certainly are working with deadlines, making phone calls, appointments for clients, patients, residents, other vendors, making sure your typing is done, grammar is correct, filing, and having to listen to you talk about how much work you have to get done while they are faciliating “getting the job done.”

I’ve been working closely with my front desk salon coordinators on a mammoth project that doesn’t seem to end. We celebrate with high fives when we get through minimal phases. We are updating our salon software that has exposed every single inconsistency from a standard version that wasn’t a problem before but now is a glaring light beam.Once “we” get  this problem cleaned up, it will be smooth sailing for all of our front desk coordinators, our customers, and for me. I can’t wait. Frankly, I don’t have the time in a day to get this done myself. I truly appreciate all of the efforts from my team to get this project off our task list.

As a business owner, I speak for all owners and managers, we get caught up in the big picture of our business operations that we are not considering all of the secretaries, adminstrative professionals that help us clean up our brilliant ideas.

I admit that when these problems are exposed, our administrative professionals really want to tell us, “I’ve been telling you about this for months.” Well, this day on April 27, 2016 is all about celebrating you for telling us and we didn’t listen. I’ll say that we want to listen and we actually do, its just that we prioritize these things until they become a priority. This whole idea of honoring Adminstrative Professionals is about appreciation of all the hardwork they do for us.

Who created Administrative/Secretary’s Day?

National Professional Secretaries Week and National Secretary’s Day was created  in 1952 through the work of Harry F. Klemfuss of Young and Rubicam. Klemfuss recognized the importance and value of the position to a company or business. His goal was to encourage more women to become secretaries. Using his skill and experience in public relations, Klemfuss, promoted the values and importance of the job of secretaries. In doing so, he also created the holiday in recognition of the importance of secretaries.

The name of this special day has changed and evolved over the past few decades. But, the importance of recognizing these vital individuals remains. The two new terms in use today are: “Administrative Professionals” and “Executive Admins”. The two names sometimes mean different roles and responsibilities in different companies and organizations. Both are broader terms, that encompass more positions than the original “Secretary” role.

The name change recognizes and acknowledges that the role has changed significantly since 1952, and for the better at that. In Harry Klemfuss’ day, these positions were the realm of women. Today, you find males in these positions. Being a secretary was a prestigious position in the 50’s. Now, it’s more of a business position with clout and the “gatekeeper” to the owner.

No longer do you have to worry about this at Indulge Salon, York Pa and Greensboro, Ga salons. We understand you have sensitive skin. Yes the skin on your scalp is the same as the skin on your face. Ha, you didn’t know that did you?

We have added a little magic to the color to neutralize the ammonia in color called “sweet & low”. This is a trick we stylists have been using for years. You can’t imagine all of the color tricks we have been using behind the scenes such as coffee grains for toning hair color, or the the popular trick of taking cigarette butts to remove hair color stains from around the face (we don’t do this any longer) or tea bags with water that has run over them to tone hair color to a neutralized tone. Those are just some of the tricks that were successful but I couldn’t bring myself to do the cigarette thing. No ma’am.

We have continued to use sweet & low to neutralize the stinging sensation on the scalp however; with the new Illumina haircolor from Wella that we have been using, this color line actually is designed for sensitive scalps. Workshops are held at Indulge Salon York Pa on South George Street for staff to learn the the results of good credit and bad credit to purchase larger items

Learning to manage your credit is what our employees at Indulge Salon, York Pa were all about toay! We are proud to hold training classes for our staff to learn the value of a credit report for buying a house, new cars and in general just understanding what banks are looking for in a credit report. Our staff learned from Hope, the manager at Santander Bank on S Queen St, York Pa does many trainings to local businesses to help their employees learn how their financial management affects big purchases.

We are hosting Hope to help educate on personal money management, savings, the importance of repairing credit such as bankruptcy, divorce drama, identity theft and many other mistakes that can happen without your knowledge. She has many years of experience teaching people how to repair mistakes or working their way back up to good credit scores enabling them to purchase the items they want in their lifestyle. Credit worthiness is a term that our team learned today. I have discovered over the years that not all people have been taught to manage their money in healthy ways.

I personally have had the most dry itchy skin you can imagine – around my ankles! I know its weird but unfortunately I was going through a really stressful time in my life that lasted over 6 months. Who knew that this could improve your math skills

At Indulge, A Colour salon 180 from ordinary, we pride ourselves on staying educated at the top of our levels. We just discovered that this crazy therapy will actually increase your math performance if done regularly. So what is it? Massage. I know I’m not even kidding. Who knew that a regular massage will help with math processing and performance. The University of Miami School of Medicine, therapists gave 26 adults two 15-minute chair massages, twice a week, for five weeks. A Control group of 24 adults just relaxed in the massage chair for the same periods. Results after five weeks. In addition to the expected lowereed degrees of stress and anxiety in the massage group, this also demonstrated increased speed and accuracy on math computations, the control groups math skills didn’t change.Nice to know that if I needed to increase my speed or accuracy I would do this. high altitudes can dry out the skin

Is your skin affected with air travel? You may be right with the education we have around skincare that is more advanced, skin does have a tendency to dehydrate while in the air. As you know, I have many adventures that are never the same when it comes to traveling with the airlines. The latest adventure was last weekend when traveling to see a very good friend of mine in Charleston, SC. I was in Charlotte awaiting the next flight to complete my travels when they had already delayed my flight twice then they flat out cancelled it. I was sitting at the bar ready to have my Peach Smash and then a Kaluah beverage to follow when I received a tap on the shoulder from a woman named Becky. Very attractive and said “hey, isn’t that some of the people that are supposed to be on our flight?”. I said, “I don’t know, how about I watch your stuff and you check it out.”Becky did to only discover that the airline was offering a BUS to Charleston. I said, “a bus?” I asked Becky to watch my stuff and I was off to find a solution to my problem to get to my friend as quickly as possible. I mosied on over to the counter and asked if they had any helicopters available. The attendant stopped and stared at me amongst the other passengers that were stunned that I would even ask for a helicopter. Certainly we have to figure out what the options are to get from A to B quickly. She informed me quickly by saying, “ma’am, we do not have helicopters available.” I questioned this since they are air travel right? Long story short, I turned around and asked the crowd, “who would like to drive to Charleston with me?” I recruited the best drive crew ever. Roy, Justin and Becky were my driving comrades and Roy did a great job. I was able to catch two naps, great conversation and had the best fun for 3.5 hours to Charleston. Becky’s daughter is a hairstylist in Charleston. Justin is an engineer that navigated us towards the airport and Roy, well Roy was cool and knows how to work out the plan by driving. We did have to make a pitstop at McDonalds for all around beverages. It was so much fun and we beat the the next flight which the airline scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Who has time for that? Lots of people to see. Let’s just say it was worth the drive to get there early. I did make it to the bar that evening and had a few more fruity beverages that does dehydrate your skin if you don’t have enough sleep or water to re-hydrate the skin. As you can see from the Road Warriors photo we were all smiles and happy to greet our destination. I wish all of you traveling such as we did to just go by the seat of your pants and gather some new friends around and drive if you have the option. Driving saves time, makes new friends and creates a memory for all involved. We all agreed what fun it was to have this type of adventure. This is just another day for me but for some, it was way out of their comfort zones.

If you are considering a chemical peel, let me tell you about one of my favorites.  The “Baby Boomer Peel” is a little more assertive than most—perhaps that’s why I like it.
