What makes Indulge Salon a special place to have your brazilian waxing done or full body waxing done? We take the time to discuss the types of wax we use for different textures of hair. Sometimes it will be appropriate to use a soft hard wax for sensitive skin. Other times will warrant the blue metallica wax akin to getting rid of the  those short stubby hairs that don’t want to leave really need a hard wax that is superior to the soft waxes. The hard wax will take hold of the shorter hairs that can be stubborn.

Before we even get into the waxing treatment room, we will have  discussion on what you are looking for as a result of your waxing session. We take a look at the areas that are being discussed and the maintenance. We talk about beauty budget because if someone is not quite sure they want to have it done, cost may be a factor if they grow hair quickly.

Our technicians always sanitize the hands before we start on the areas that need waxed such as brazilian. We will evaluate the areas in question to get our game plan down because of the direction of the hairs and the type of wax used, we need to ensure we are removing your hair the best way possible to prevent ingrown hairs.

You see, ingrown hairs come from the hair growing out, turning around and could go back inside the hair follicle. Some of those hairs may become infected if they are not treated with care. Here are some suggestions to prevent ingrown hairs:

1. wear clean panties daily. If you have cysts or pimples or ingrown hairs in the pubic area, wear white undies that are bleached and clean. The more frequent changes the better. the thongs could irritate a freshly waxed area. Colored dies in the panties could irritate the skin.
2. no “indoor sports” after a waxing session, especially brazilian or the full undercarriage area. Prevents disease being spread and bacteria from all fluids Just save this for the next day.

4. Use the dry brush before you step into the shower. The dry brush bristles are gentle enough to lift the hairs away from the follicle preventing the hair from growing back inside the hair follicle.

My daughter has started a magazine that talks about health of women in fitness, cross fit workouts, tanning and the benefits of it, beauty (my area) supplements to help your hair grow and your insides get healthier. She did a great job launching this magazine digitally available. As you can see, this mom-to-be had to find products that were good for her baby belly full of twins. They are almost 2.5 years old now but still using the products on herself and her twins.

When we are younger, we moisturize with creams and lotions. As we age, we are more concerned about whether we have the potential of falling taking a step out of bed. How do I know that? I asked my clients what their greatest fear was. It wasn’t dry skin, it was the fear of falling. Older people have lost the confidence to once do what they used to do no matter if their mind is sharp as a tack. The last think they are thinking about is their dry crepe skin.

3 best ways to prevent crepey skin

Skin loses elasticity as we age because of dehydration and other factors. There’s no way to completely avoid crepey skin, but there are a few ways to delay it.

1. Stick to the shade. The most important thing to do, says Dr. Kassouf is to stay out of the sun as much as possible. Also, protect your skin when you’re in the sun with a hydrating sun skin.
2. Make skin hydration a priority. Keeping skin well-hydrated with a good moisturizer helps prevent injury that creates or worsens crepiness.
3. Pay attention to ingredients. Make sure your moisturizer contains alpha or beta hydroxy acids, such as salicylic acid, lactic acid or glycolic acid. These products lubricate and plump the skin, helping reduce that crepey appearance, Dermatologist, Dr. Amy Kassouf says. Older skin gets dry, flaky kind of like a sun burn that is peeling, only it’s DRY SKIN. If they live alone, it’s difficult to wash their backs to exfoliate on their own.  Using a dry brush on skin is essential to slough off the dry flakes daily. Although the skin is frail, thin and sensitive, try not to brush to hard but certainly make sure you exfoliate with a gentle body scrub, gommage or exfoliating soap such as Indulge Pure Originals Oatmeal soap. $8.50 for 3.5 oz soap that gently exfoliates without tearing up the skin.

Gel manicures have proven they help support and protect flimsy nails. For about 20 years I’ve worn acrylic nails and was very happy with the way they looked till I received a green shade of fungus as a result of being in and out of water. Being a hairstylist working in water, hair color, bleaching processes and general rough handling of my nails they take a beating daily.

For many years, my nails were great until about a year ago, I had removed all of the acrylic and decided to go with the natural nail. I had avoided  touching anything. The nail beds were so thin and fragile. It hurt to touch any object after the removal. After about a month they started to be more normal, however; the appearance of the nails were a far cry from what I was used to. My nails were brittle, dry and you could see the drill smiles in the nail bed. One of my nails actually had ripped on the corner. The nail was so flimsy that it would bend backwards. I was really concerned that having acrylics on for so many years may have damaged my actual nail beds that I may not have been able to grow my nails out.

Hair color stained them because they were so porous and  looked like I was dragging my fingers through the dirt. Professionally speaking, a well shaped shorter squared off nail makes nails more polished looking. The nails are more proportionally shaped to enhance my hands.
