Ready for your hair color and haircut Spring makeover?

Look at this transformation from our very own stylist, Zach, from Indulge Salon on East Market Street York, Pa. He has been doing these amazing Spring hair transformations with our clients that come in with brassy, same color tones without contrast or interest.

One of our newest client additions to our Indulge family is Daria Kostyleff. He felt honored that she came to him asking to get rid of her brassy gold hair. She is newly in love and wanted to have a “revamping” of her hair. Zach was on it in a second by offering up some changes with the following:

As you can see from the AFTER photos of Daria, that her stylist did it. the style is soft, romantic and touchable. He gave her a movable haircut that can be worn straight or curly and looks easy to style. Daria’s hair color has lighter tones with contrast and dimension plus I love how it doesn’t show the lines from the regular foil highlights. Just gorgeous! Thanks Zach for doing a great job.

It takes a lot of advanced skill to create these types of hair transformations. Zach has done advanced training in balayage highlights, hair color correction, and hair color formulations. Even with all of this knowledge, it is important to note that taking care of a new hair color is similar to buying a silk dress that is an investment and you want to keep in good condition as long as possible. We always will recommend shampooing with our non sulfate shampoo and conditioner that helps maintain the color pigments preventing them from leaving the hair. You wouldn’t want to wash that silk expensive dress in generic washing solution. It would make the dress fade and become dull just like hair becomes after repeatedly washing with generic over the counter drug store products that tend to make the the hair color fade.

I’m so ready to be rid of the hats, gloves, winter coats and layers of clothes. Secretly, I still love my turtlenecks. They make me feel skinny even if I’m not. Feeling asymetrical? Ok, if you are going to do this then you better have a longer face to offset the uneven sides with some volume to the sides of your head. I must say if you are going to go bold, you need to make sure this cropped cut with the volume sitting perfectly at the top with bold highlights or lowlights that sit in the right place bringing those big eyes out. What we had discovered is that even though the years change, the fundamentals do not when it comes to haircutting. The styles update and hair color updates but the archecture of the haircut does not. Here we are today to talk about what we have in store for you this fall season 2015.

As a team, we talked about the haircut corrections that we have been experiencing lately. Really bad haircuts have been walking through our doors to be fixed. The haircuts for men and women are both botched up with uneven lines, haircut lines within the haircut from scissor marks, the hairlines are crooked and basically its a mess out their in the haircutting world of York County, Pa. I take pride in our french haircutting system and the way we teach these skills to our staff. The neat thing is that any of our stylists can duplicate the haircuts that one of the other stylists has done in the salon anytime and anywhere on the head because of these systems that we teach. This is comforting as an owner and trainer of the salon  and as a client of Indulge Salon, you can feel comfort in this also that you are not dependent on any one stylist. You have the entire team that is here for you.

We have been enjoying tclass training with clipper cutting, razor cutting, dry cutting and wet haircutting. Not all haircuts are created equal as I’ve mentioned above. We take elements of foundational haircutting techniques to create the solution for your hair. For example, if someone with super coarse hair comes in and wants a textured look, a razor could cause major frizz which would make the hair look fuller and frizzy. 1. never have to many highlights that look fake and unattractive.

2. don’t go to far with the color from your natural color – will look fake

3. balayage highlights look more natural with mimum grow out over a few weeks.

4. ask for a style that you can use your fingertips vs the brush that creates fluff!

5. communicate to your stylist by bringing photos off Pinterest or anything that inspires you.

This is one of the newest looks provided by Loreal. We express ourselves at work with our hairstyle, makeup, and work attire. What message are you sending at work when you show up? Do you have skin showing inappropriately? Do coworkers make comments that you are ready for the bars after work? Well, I don’t really know if that is a compliment or maybe they might be trying to tell you something at work. I know that we certainly are tired of seeing all of that skin showing from clothes not fitting properly, no makeup, and hair that is not kept up as we would expect at a professional position. Over the years, I have seen the way women carry themselves this past year have gone south. Not in a good way. It appears that women seem tired, worn out from carrying the load of being a mom, provider, and coach to their children let alone trying to climb the business ladder to improve their performance at work. Whew, those are many roles to play with limited time for oneself. I often hear, your luck I made it here on time. This is a shame because we have beautiful women in York, PA that have let themselves go for the sake of others. I speak from experience with my own children growing up and I still have one at home. Either way, we have got to feel good about ourselves so that we can continue to give to others. Wearing makeup this year is very classic and is simple to do in the morning. Low maintenance yet striking for the day. We are trying to help our women in York, PA to look better so that they are paid better. There has been a study done that you can read about stating that women make more money when they appear more professional at work. I believe this and can see the results over the years. I also have noticed women that take better care of themselves along with their dress code have been treated better by coworkers and strangers that don’t even know them. Layers in the hair create a professional appearance appropriate for the workplace

At Indulge Salon York, PA we are experts on these things—this was fun and easy for us and quickly turned into a time for all of us to celebrate the adventure my friend was about to embark on! But then she asked if stockings (or nylons) were still required in the office …

While we could offer some thoughts on what to wear to a new office job, pantyhose seemed to no longer follow clear rules of office etiquette in 2013. The Indulge Salon York, PA staff was so evenly divided on the answer to that question, we did what we always do to find answers to life’s important questions: we Googled it. And what did we find out? It all depends. The best advice was to wear them and see what other people did—especially senior management—taking your cue from them. Kimberly’s naturally curl hair

I’m on a roll tonight. It’s 12:00 a.m. and my son is asleep. Everything is quiet and I was thinking about the hair fiascos that happen on a plane when one travels. I always look at hair when I travel and think about how I could transform someone with a new hair color or a haircut that would better suit their features. In York, PA at Indulge salon we have come across some pretty interesting mullets, short bangs with all one length (it’s not the cute kind) and other assemblies of hair creations. So my fave is the person that leans back has a little perspiration working in the back of their neck and of course somebody’s got the air blowing from the top of the aircraft onto your face which means that now you are going to freeze and so is your hair! hee hee. I just had to chuckle because you know whats coming! Yep, when they wake up from their groggy sleep, the haircut no longer looks like a work of art. it looks like a squirrel got roused up and was running around in circles at the back of the head in the nape area. Some hair laid tight to the head, some sticking straight up looking distorted. I can hardly keep it together here describing this. I have met some pretty dynamic people on my flights but I can assure you each trip is interesting. I always get the guy that has nervous gas. I want to throw up every flight. Although the last flight I was on was more pleasant than most. Professional, clean, and pleasant to sit next to. So the next time you are traveling give yourself a little fluff with the hand in the back of your head to unruffle the hair.
