I had to mention it again. What WERE YOU THINKING?

Bad manners are running amuck at the airport awaiting the flight. Let me tell you this story about an older man that demonstrated his lack of manners. I am absolutely disgusted with people and their lack of manners with regards to others around them thinking their personal hygiene habits wouldn’t go unnoticed as they clip their nails with a nail trimmer allowing their nail trimmings to fall to the carpet. UGH!!!

This was over the top for me as I sit in my seat watching this in action. I thought that the security at BWI airport is supposed to consfiscate nail trimmers because they might be a weapon. I think I could be a human weapon and take this guy out. This is the same kind of person that would pick their nose and leave is somewhere unsuspecting. This guy probably doesn’t wash his hands when he uses the bathroom privy. He probably thinks he’s sexy! NOT! I should have taken a picture and displayed him here to say beware travelers.

I could hardly take this out of my mind since my traveling to Georgia. Of course I told my daughter all about this inhuman grossness. I don’t even know if that is a word but I just made it up and it applied. This notice goes out to all of you that think this is ok, I’ll give you some tips and tricks on grooming do’s and don’ts and the airport.

These don’ts are expressed from Kinberly, the owner of Indulge Salon York PA. man clipping nails

1. Do not trim your fingernails at the airport waiting lounge. The best place for this is outside where nobody can see you maintenancing your nails or in the privacy of your hotel or home environment. Please feel free to read this article from National Post on their opinion of clipping nails in public. http://arts.nationalpost.com/2011/06/09/extremely-bad-advice-people-clipping-their-nails-in-public-are-absolutely-disgusting-and-need-to-be-told-this-forever-and-ever/

2. Do not pick your nose in public. This demonstrates to others that you have zero care for anyone else around you. Rubbing your nose appropriately if you have an itch is appropriate but do not even think about inserting a finger into the nose to search out for foreign objects. If your “discovery” ends up in your hand, place this in a napkin that may be handy and do not wipe this on your pant leg or chair or carpet. This may require more attention in the privacy of the airport restroom. Again, this part of the body has been built to filtrate bad air and to prevent large objects from entering the nostril. Yes mucus can harden and may require removal but do this privately and wash your hands after with soap and water.

3. Brush your teeth in the restroom which would be appropriate. The food stores and drug stores carry those little tooth shampooers that are great for travel to be done in privacy not in the airport. Really. I’ve have been noticing some very yellow stained which means that a bleaching would be a great idea if you are a professional and I highly recommend some vigorous brushing on a regular basis. Women are not attracted to stuff between the teeth or bad breath.

3a. Do not pick your teeth with your fingernails. Nope not a chick magnet. This does not bode well in relationship building at the airport. This actually would repel people watching you do this. If they shake their heads while you are picking away, you know this was not a good idea. Just say “excuse me” and walk to the rest room for a tooth check. Got it?!

4. When talking with another person in the waiting area, look to see if they are even interestd in talking with you. First, observe if they are reading, watching or engaged in some form of entertainment. This means don’t bother them. IF they are looking around and create eye contact with you, they may be interested in some conversation.

5. Professionals it might be time to rethink your wardrobe. Guys, the gut over the stomach is to much when you are trying to squeeze into the pant and arrange the extra flesh around it. Breathing heavy with bad breath makes women feel uncomfortable and they are thinking about their life supportive resources instead of mouth to mouth if you pass out. Iron your shirts to make a great impression. I know its tough to see this as it is but take it from a person that cares about others and their grooming, their image and the message they send by outward appearances go back to the foundation of first impressions. You don’t get another chance to make a first impression.

6. If you are wanting to meet people at the airport go to this site http://meetattheairport.com/   this site will help you do the right things if you are intersted.

If you have a comment about your travels and what you have seen, please feel free to add to this post.

I’ve received some comments in response to my flight adventures. No flight is the same I can tell you. The most recent was to Chicago on United.

My day started out beautifully. I get settled on the plane and sit beside an interesting man. We were grounded for at least 45 minutes which gave us time to talk about his business. He traveled to train others to really provide quality information to his various teams. I was impressed with his commitment to helping his company grow. While we were sharing, I felt proud of my team and their dedication to coming to training every week to learn the details of how to cut hair the Indulge way. They have to listen to me share lots of details that they really have never been exposed to n the hair industry.

Both myself and this traveler are committed to details that give our respective consumers such a point of difference in the end result for the. We both shared in the pride of our trainings. Business owners work diligently to ensure the information is shared to help our team make good decisions for the customers. I for one enjoy sharing all of the secrets of hair color correction that helps them make better decisions to advise or recommend hair products, treatments that improve the hair. Best training also equips my stylists and team to ensure their skin is more youthful by consulting our client prior to a service. We enjoy being the best.

As a result, my flight was awesome, interesting, non smelly, and mentally

I would love to hear from you on your adventures. Please feel free to share.

high altitudes can dry out the skin

Is your skin affected with air travel? You may be right with the education we have around skincare that is more advanced, skin does have a tendency to dehydrate while in the air. As you know, I have many adventures that are never the same when it comes to traveling with the airlines. The latest adventure was last weekend when traveling to see a very good friend of mine in Charleston, SC. I was in Charlotte awaiting the next flight to complete my travels when they had already delayed my flight twice then they flat out cancelled it. I was sitting at the bar ready to have my Peach Smash and then a Kaluah beverage to follow when I received a tap on the shoulder from a woman named Becky. Very attractive and said “hey, isn’t that some of the people that are supposed to be on our flight?”. I said, “I don’t know, how about I watch your stuff and you check it out.”Becky did to only discover that the airline was offering a BUS to Charleston. I said, “a bus?” I asked Becky to watch my stuff and I was off to find a solution to my problem to get to my friend as quickly as possible. I mosied on over to the counter and asked if they had any helicopters available. The attendant stopped and stared at me amongst the other passengers that were stunned that I would even ask for a helicopter. Certainly we have to figure out what the options are to get from A to B quickly. She informed me quickly by saying, “ma’am, we do not have helicopters available.” I questioned this since they are air travel right? Long story short, I turned around and asked the crowd, “who would like to drive to Charleston with me?” I recruited the best drive crew ever. Roy, Justin and Becky were my driving comrades and Roy did a great job. I was able to catch two naps, great conversation and had the best fun for 3.5 hours to Charleston. Becky’s daughter is a hairstylist in Charleston. Justin is an engineer that navigated us towards the airport and Roy, well Roy was cool and knows how to work out the plan by driving. We did have to make a pitstop at McDonalds for all around beverages. It was so much fun and we beat the the next flight which the airline scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Who has time for that? Lots of people to see. Let’s just say it was worth the drive to get there early. I did make it to the bar that evening and had a few more fruity beverages that does dehydrate your skin if you don’t have enough sleep or water to re-hydrate the skin. As you can see from the Road Warriors photo we were all smiles and happy to greet our destination. I wish all of you traveling such as we did to just go by the seat of your pants and gather some new friends around and drive if you have the option. Driving saves time, makes new friends and creates a memory for all involved. We all agreed what fun it was to have this type of adventure. This is just another day for me but for some, it was way out of their comfort zones. Salon York PA

Kimberly’s naturally curl hair

I’m on a roll tonight. It’s 12:00 a.m. and my son is asleep. Everything is quiet and I was thinking about the hair fiascos that happen on a plane when one travels. I always look at hair when I travel and think about how I could transform someone with a new hair color or a haircut that would better suit their features. In York, PA at Indulge salon we have come across some pretty interesting mullets, short bangs with all one length (it’s not the cute kind) and other assemblies of hair creations. So my fave is the person that leans back has a little perspiration working in the back of their neck and of course somebody’s got the air blowing from the top of the aircraft onto your face which means that now you are going to freeze and so is your hair! hee hee. I just had to chuckle because you know whats coming! Yep, when they wake up from their groggy sleep, the haircut no longer looks like a work of art. it looks like a squirrel got roused up and was running around in circles at the back of the head in the nape area. Some hair laid tight to the head, some sticking straight up looking distorted. I can hardly keep it together here describing this. I have met some pretty dynamic people on my flights but I can assure you each trip is interesting. I always get the guy that has nervous gas. I want to throw up every flight. Although the last flight I was on was more pleasant than most. Professional, clean, and pleasant to sit next to. So the next time you are traveling give yourself a little fluff with the hand in the back of your head to unruffle the hair. Check out my video by clicking on the link here describing the salon and so you can see a picture of me. Video of me explaining the salon and what we do. Check out the long blonde hair model.

Butternut blonde with multi-dimensional tones throughout the hair tones

Look I can really appreciate trying to save a buck or two. Lately, we have had this huge influx of banana, orange, stripey hair that has graced our doors to be fixed into this lovely multi-dimensional hair color goddess. Truly, it is a gift that so many people trust us from  their box color dilema to beautiful tresses flowing down their backs. It is not easy trying to dissect the type of box color used to how much to where they put it on and then their arm got tired of holding up the bottle and the applicator splattered everywhere leaving a trail for us to fix. Ugh! Hard for them and hard for us but we love fixing bad color jobs. This is a transformational opportunity for us to take somone that tried to be a blonde and they did their best “god bless their soul”. That saying is from our Salon Manager, Shane Parrish, in Greensboro Ga. He always says that when he knows that our lovely clients really need help. Here in the north we just chuckle and say that’s Shane for you. Then we get to work figuring out how to help our new blonde friend. Doing your own hair can be costly emotionally and financially. It is worth spending the money up front to get a great result rather than trying to do your own thing because in the end you will end up spending more money to get it fixed and then swear you will never do that again. I promise. It happens all of the time. So if you are thinking about it, just put the box down. I know the girl looks cute and her hair looks adorable and sexy and all that on the box but that doesn’t mean that when you put that color from the bottle that you are going to look like the girl on the box. The research and developers have stylists that work in a back room experimenting on different shades and different multiple processes with the box color. Most of these box colors are made with fabric dye. Yep! are you gasping yet? Also, made with metallic dyes which means its hard to get out. I can tell from my own experience that when I was a working girl in one of the those hamburger joints with the big W, I tried different hair colors such as black which I thought would wash out. Who knew that I would have cat black hair for 6 – 8 weeks and it didn’t wash out. I had regrowth of inches before it was slightly fading. Horrible. I felt like a tramp and not cute at all. I tried to play it up with darker makeup and then my dad would say you look like a raccoon. I cried. So girls, I understand when you have box color blunders. Since I’ve attended beauty school and attended many advanced training centers all over the world, I do not recommend the emotional toll it takes on you. However; when you get a beautiful color on your face that matches your skin and it glows, it’s worth it. Share your story with me at https://www.indulgesalon.com an hit the contact button. I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to log in on the home page if you like for a free 15.00 off coupon on your next color.

Taking Care of your hair is easy…Salon York PA

especially when you’re not traveling!  Sometimes we travel, grabbing things at the last minute, forgetting all of the essentials, and we’re left with horrible, and I mean, horrible shampoo provided by the hotel. Yes, it’s conveniently set up next to the dry, paper wrapped soap, but it provides absolutely zero benefits for our hair. Sometimes you get the really fancy hotels that give you the shampoo in one container and the conditioner in another. At least they’re making an effort to realize there are benefits to each product, right?!

Indulge has made it easier to travel and maintain your hair’s beauty with the Wella Brilliance Travel Pack. It has a travel size Shampoo, Conditioner, and Treatment. Let me first say that all three of these products are absolutely amazing. They smell like fresh smoothies all whipped up and put into little bottles for our convenience.

Begin with the Brilliance Shampoo that is formulated with diamond dust, it boots shine and protects color’s vividness.

Next, use the Brilliance Conditioner. Made for fine and normal hair, the Brilliance Conditioner is lightweight and leaves hair moisturized, luminous, and full of free-flowing movement.

Seal the deal with the Brilliance Treatment. Triple blended with three lightweight polymers, the Brilliance Treatment instantly restores vibrancy and makes your hair irresistibly smooth.

See! Indulge has made your summer months easy with the newest product from Wella,Salon York PA the Wella Brilliance Travel Pack. Reserve your travel pack at the E. Market location (717-718-4465) or the S. George Street location (717-846-4424).

You won’t regret it, and you’ll be happy you packed your travel pack once you sit it on the counter next to that sorry yellow bottle of two-in-one shampoo. Your hair will thank you!
